Why I Left Manual Coding Behind: A Partner’s Origin Story

Why I Left Manual Coding Behind: A Partner’s Origin Story

Timextender's reach spans the globe, thanks in large part to a network of partners who bring the platform to customers in their own regions.

At a recent event, we sat down with Søren Sørensen, an independent Timextender partner who leads Timextender Australia and New Zealand, to talk about a chance encounter that changed his career, his first big win, and why he believes converting data into insights is more than a slogan.

Søren Sørensen didn't set out to build a Timextender partner business. Like a lot of people who eventually land on automation, he started out doing things the hard way: hand-coding data solutions, one project at a time. "As we did in the olden days," he says. It worked, but it didn't scale. Even his most structured, well-documented solutions became a burden to maintain, and the time it cost him kept piling up.

That changed when he came across Timextender at a customer site. He wasn't looking for a new career, he was just looking for a faster way to get from a change request to a working result. But the speed of it stuck with him.

"When I saw the power of automation, it was a one-way street."  - Søren Sørensen

He was blown away by how quickly the platform turned requests into results, enough that he asked on the spot if he could bring it to his part of the world. That conversation turned into Timextender Australia, the partner business he still runs today.

His first project only confirmed the decision. Converting an existing customer's hand-coded solution into an automated one, the kind of migration that used to take serious time and effort, turned out to be, in his words, "so easy."

Ask Søren to explain Timextender to someone outside the industry, and he skips the jargon entirely. It's not really about the technology, he says, it's about the ability to move fast and course-correct.

"It's agile in a completely different way that you don't see with other tools or methods."   - Søren Sørensen

Test something, keep what works, drop what doesn't, and do all of it faster than manual coding ever allowed. That's the version of "convert data into insights" Søren sells: not a slogan, but the thing that changed how he works, and eventually, where he chose to build his business.
