TimeXtender Delivers Full Microsoft Fabric Support in Major October Release
Micah Horner, Product Marketing Manager, TimeXtender
October 8, 2025

We are excited to announce a major release across the TimeXtender Holistic Data Suite, featuring Data Integration 7142.1, new Data Source Providers (r. 2025-10-06), and Orchestration & Data Quality 25.2.
This release marks a significant milestone. It completes our phased journey to provide comprehensive, end-to-end support for Microsoft Fabric, delivering on our promise to help you master modern data architecture.
This achievement is accompanied by substantial enhancements across our entire Holistic Data Suite, bringing more efficient data connectivity and robust orchestration to build a truly future-proof data infrastructure.
The Main Event: Comprehensive, End-to-End Microsoft Fabric Integration
This release completes our three-phase journey to fully support Microsoft Fabric, moving our integration from a limited public preview to a production-ready solution with full feature parity. We have delivered a comprehensive set of capabilities that allow organizations to build, migrate, and manage their entire data infrastructure on Microsoft Fabric with the speed and governance that TimeXtender provides.
From Preview to Production: Full Feature Parity for Fabric Lakehouse
Our support for Microsoft Fabric Lakehouse as a Prepare instance storage has now achieved full feature parity, representing a major step forward from the initial preview. Organizations can now migrate existing TimeXtender solutions directly to Fabric Lakehouse without needing to rebuild their business logic.
Our Data Integration product automatically generates the necessary Spark notebooks from your visual, no-code data model definitions, translating all existing transformations into production-ready code that runs natively in Fabric. This process saves hundreds of hours of manual Spark development.
Advanced data warehouse capabilities are now fully supported on Fabric Lakehouse, including:
-
Field validations and custom data transformations
-
Type 2 slowly changing dimensions for history tracking
-
Table inserts, custom hash fields, and junk dimensions
Unlocking Real-Time Analytics: Power BI Direct Lake Mode
The latest release introduces support for Power BI Direct Lake mode, which enables query performance similar to Import mode for large datasets without requiring data duplication or scheduled refreshes. By reading data directly from Delta tables in OneLake, this capability significantly reduces data latency and infrastructure overhead. Organizations now have the flexibility to choose between Direct Lake mode for near real-time analytics on large volumes of data, or Import mode for maximum query speed on curated datasets.
Enhanced Flexibility, Performance, and Security in Fabric
In addition to these major updates, we have delivered several enhancements to provide greater architectural flexibility and operational control within Microsoft Fabric. Users can now create notebook-ready Spark views as well as persistent SQL endpoint views, offering flexible integration points for custom scripts or downstream analytics tools.
To optimize performance and reduce costs, TimeXtender now automatically creates a shortcut to tables in OneLake when no transformations are required between the Ingest and Prepare instances, eliminating unnecessary data movement.
Finally, Fabric instances now support service principal authentication. This is a critical security enhancement that removes the previous requirement for a non-MFA user, which strengthens an organization's security posture and simplifies automated deployments in enterprise environments.
Enhancements Across the Holistic Data Suite
Alongside our comprehensive Microsoft Fabric integration, this major release delivers significant improvements across the TimeXtender Holistic Data Suite, enhancing performance, connectivity, and control.
More Efficient and Robust Data Integration (v7142.1)
In our Data Integration product, the logging system for Ingest instances has been completely redesigned for improved usability and resilience. The new system features file-based logging, storing logs directly on the local file system in the open W3C Extended Log File Format.
This approach simplifies troubleshooting, especially for connection issues, and makes logs immediately available for analysis without needing to access a cloud instance. To help manage storage, administrators can also configure log retention periods and maximum file sizes.
Broader and More Efficient Data Connectivity (Data Source Providers r. 2025-10-06)
A significant enhancement in our latest data source provider update is the addition of incremental loading support for the generic REST data source provider. This capability reduces the number of API calls and the volume of data transferred during each execution, which lowers costs for metered endpoints and significantly shortens data extraction times. This same incremental load functionality has also been added to other key connectors, including HubSpot and Exact Online.
More Resilient and User-Friendly Orchestration & Data Quality (v25.2)
Our Orchestration and Data Quality products also receive important updates that introduce new features for more resilient and flexible workflow management. Users can now configure the number of times a failed package should automatically retry before halting execution. A new 'Continuous' schedule type allows for workflows that automatically restart upon completion, ensuring data is processed as quickly as possible. These updates are paired with a redesigned start page and clearer error messages to improve the overall user experience.
The Big Picture: What This Means for Our Customers
These updates across the TimeXtender Holistic Data Suite represent a significant step forward in our mission to bridge the Data Divide by making modern data architecture accessible, affordable, and future-proof. By automating the complexities of Microsoft Fabric, we empower organizations to adopt this powerful architecture without the steep learning curve or the need for a large team of specialized Spark developers. Our Data Integration product now automatically generates production-grade Spark code directly from a visual, low-code interface, allowing data teams to build and manage a sophisticated lakehouse while leveraging their existing skills.
This automation-first approach directly translates to lower operational costs and increased efficiency. The automatic generation of Spark code reduces the reliance on expensive, specialized engineering talent. Furthermore, the introduction of incremental loading for REST API data sources minimizes data transfer volumes and API calls, which lowers expenses for metered endpoints and shortens data extraction times. Performance optimizations, such as Power BI Direct Lake mode and Fabric table shortcuts, further reduce infrastructure and compute costs by eliminating unnecessary data duplication and movement.
Most importantly, this release reinforces our commitment to providing a truly future-proof data infrastructure. Our unique, metadata-driven approach separates your business logic from the underlying storage layer. This means you can build your data solution once and deploy it to any supported environment, whether it's Microsoft Fabric, Azure SQL Server, Snowflake, AWS, or an on-premises system. This architectural freedom eliminates vendor lock-in and ensures your data infrastructure can adapt to the next generation of technology without requiring a costly and time-consuming rebuild.
