Begin With The End In Mind - Part 2

Setting Your Stage For Success

When you begin with the end in mind, you gain a different and more conscious perspective in business and life.

Setting the stage for for your success and becoming your own creator means to plan and visualize what you're going to do and what you're setting out to accomplish and then go out and act on it. Therefore, approach your role with your personal strategy, values and direction clear. Then as the challenges come, you can make your decisions based on those values and direction. Then you can act with integrity. You don’t have to react to the emotion, circumstances, and other peoples agendas. You can be truly pro-active and purpose driven because your end goal is clear.

When you practice Habit 2 you shape your future. Whether you are thinking about the outcome of a meeting, a relationship, or your life. If you don't make a conscious effort to visualize who you are and what you want in life, then you empower other people and circumstances to shape you and your life by default.

If you’ve worked in start-ups, you know that things can change at the drop of the hat. A new vision emerges and suddenly you report to someone new. Products shift and you have to scramble to re-focus your work and learn on the fly. You can win big when the buy-out happens and you can loose big if the whole Grand Plan goes belly-up. When you engage life with your end goals, values and purpose firmly articulated, even ups and downs find meaning in your overarching theme.

According to Stephen Covey, Author of "The 7 habits of highly effective people" beginning with the End in Mind means to begin each day, task, or project with a clear vision of your desired direction and destination, and then continue by flexing your proactive muscles to make things happen.
